Citizens is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented professional to join our Internal Audit team as a Staff Auditor. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow your career in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Our Internal Audit team is made up of skilled professionals who provide independent, objective insights to the Board, Audit Committee, Shareholders, and Executive Management. We assess the effectiveness of the bank’s control environment, risk management practices, and organizational culture.

As a Staff Auditor, you’ll gain hands-on experience conducting risk-based audits across our Retail Banking, Wealth Management, and Private Banking businesses. You’ll work alongside experienced colleagues, develop new skills, and build a strong foundation in risk and control—valuable knowledge that can support long-term career growth in audit, risk, or broader financial services.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Contribute to all phases of the audit process, including planning, fieldwork, and reporting.
  • Review and document business processes to assess whether controls are effective, sustainable, and compliant with bank policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform control testing, document results in Internal Audit’s system of record, and communicate findings to Internal Audit leadership and business management.
  • Validate the effectiveness of management’s corrective actions in response to audit findings.
  • Apply analytical skills to evaluate data for patterns, trends, and anomalies, and develop effective control testing methodologies.
  • Collaborate with team members on broader audit activities, including innovative assessments of business unit control environments.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 1–5 years of professional experience, ideally within wealth management or consumer banking operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Excel.
  • Experience working with and analyzing data.
  • Basic project management skills.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with banking regulations and industry best practices.

Additional Information

  • Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM 
  • Hours per Week: 40 (Hybrid schedule with 4 days in-office) 
  • Travel Requirement: 5–10%
